Exciting News: The 2024 MacBook Pro May Feature the
Powerful
M3 Chip with 16 CPU Cores and 40-GPU Cores!
Introduction:
Over the weekend, Bloomberg's tech expert Mark Gurman delved into the details of a Mac Mini currently
undergoing testing with Apple's latest generation of Silicon chips. Today, he's bringing us more
exciting news about the high-end 16-inch MacBook Pro. Apparently, one of the versions being tested
features the M3 Max chip, which boasts a remarkable 16 CPU cores and a whopping 40 GPU cores, along
with the capacity for up to 48GB of memory.
As summer fades and we head into fall, the tech world is abuzz with anticipation for Apple's hardware
refresh cycle. With the recent release of the new Mac Pro, albeit with some less thrilling features
than expected, it seems the M3 refresh cycle is about to kick into gear. Over the next year,
starting in October, we can look forward to the launch of new MacBooks (both Pro and Air), as well
as updates to the Mac Mini and iMac desktops. Gurman hints that the revamped 14- and 16-inch MacBook
Pro models are likely to hit the market in 2024.
In addition to this exciting MacBook news, Bloomberg highlights that Apple's upcoming iPhone 15 Pro
models, set to launch later this year, will also feature a brand-new A17 processor. This processor
shares many similarities with the M3 chips and is manufactured using a cutting-edge 3nm process,
which puts it ahead of the competition.
Breaking it down further, Gurman's report reveals that test logs from a third-party app developer
suggest a split in the CPU cores of the M3 Max chip. It features 12 high-performance cores, four
more than the current M2 Max found in laptops, and maintains four efficiency cores, the same number
as the M2 Max. This configuration promises increased processing power, making tasks like video
editing and handling complex spreadsheets even smoother, all while preserving a battery life similar
to the previous model.
